Swiss Alps Coliving – Liddes, Switzerland

Live, Work & Adventure in the Swiss Alps

Why You Gotta Stay Here

Because where else can you open your laptop to a view of the Swiss Alps, close it at noon, and be on a mountain trail by 12:15? Swiss Alps Coliving is a converted hotel in the tiny village of Liddes in the Valais region — tucked into the Grand St. Bernard valley at the foot of one of the most dramatic landscapes in Europe.

It’s affordable (genuinely, for Switzerland), it’s social, and it was literally built by the community that now fills it. That’s not a marketing line — it’s the world’s first crowdfunded coliving, co-owned by people from the USA, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Italy, Romania, and Palestine. You’re not checking into someone’s business. You’re stepping into someone’s home.

“If you’re looking for a unique and enriching coliving experience, look no further. This coliving in Switzerland provided me with the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation.”

Why We’re Obsessed

The backstory alone earns it. In January 2023, a group of coliving enthusiasts found an old hotel in the Swiss Alps and crowdfunded its transformation into a community space for remote workers and adventurers. It worked. And the result is something that feels genuinely different from the polished, generic coworking-meets-hostel formula you see everywhere else.

There’s a sauna in the building. There’s a community manager on-site. There are group ski passes for 90 CHF, communal dinners, weekend trips, and the kind of accidental friendships that happen when curious people share a kitchen at altitude. One past guest learned to drive manual transmission from another coliver. That’s the Swiss Alps Coliving energy.

The Vibe

Think shared dinners, campfire chats, movie nights, deep work mornings with mountain views, weekend hikes, snow days, and making friends from all over the world. There’s a cozy kitchen, a lively dining area, a dedicated workspace with fast wifi, and common spaces designed for collaboration, connection, and comfort.

The energy is community‑driven – like a temporary home where everyone chips in and feels part of something bigger. The kind of place where someone suggests a sunset hike after dinner and half the house comes along.

The space holds 22 colivers across 10 rooms – small enough that you actually get to know everyone, big enough that you’re not tripping over each other.

  • Remote workers who don’t want to work alone and prefer living like a local over standard tourist stays.

Good to Know

  • Liddes is small — only a couple of restaurants and grocery stores – but that’s part of the charm.
  • You’re in real mountain life, not tourist central, so expect local pace and authentic alpine living.
  • Public transport is good — and they’ll help coordinate pickups if you’re arriving with luggage.
  • There’s an indoor swimming pool in nearby Bourg St. Pierre — heated to 29°C, and free with the St. Bernard Pass. The Hotel Napoleon in Bourg St. Pierre also has a larger spa with sauna and Turkish bath for 20 CHF.
  • The Liddes-Vichères ski area is five minutes by car and has four lifts; book a group season pass through SAC for just 90 CHF (if arranged 2–3 weeks ahead).
  • Summer activities include hiking, trail running, road cycling, mountain biking, SUP and tennis. In winter it’s a paradise for ski touring, cross-country skiing and snowshoe hikes.
